Every birdwatcher has unique knowledge and experience, whether they are a novice or an expert. This program is for those who would like to learn more about the birds in our area and how you can contribute to the MD-DC Breeding Bird Atlas, a five year effort that officially began January 1, 2020. Whether you are just beginning birding, or an expert birder, you can help with this vital citizen scientist project, which helps scientists analyze the health of our local ecosystem.
Presenters Rich Downs and Kurt Schwarz will give a good explanation about how you can help with collecting data for this atlas. They will also demystify the process for entering your data on e-bird, an international online resource to gather bird sightings managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
